Some pointers for use I purchased this camera initially for christmas, and when the product works, it works great. I had to use an alternative method to set it up, by syncing my phone to the camera's internal wifi, but once I did that set up was simple, and seems to be easier than other similar products on the market. Also unlike other similar products the camera does not constantly record when you are not using it or send motion sensor notifications to your phone, which for me is actually a positive point. It also makes a clear noise when it activates and also dispenses treats, which animals can be trained to respond to. I think this is actually a better option if your goal is simply interacting with your animals, as opposed to storing hours of video and paying a subscription on a cloud storage service. If you want to monitor your pets for long periods of time rather than just check in now and then, this product is not intended for that.My cats like this product a lot, and I enjoy them liking it and being able to interact with them when I'm away. This is why when I started encountering hardware problems with some of the features shortly after activation I tried out several replacement cameras to test the product and identify the cause of the problems. I then waited a month to post this review to be sure that the functionality of the product did not deteriorate over time as I use it (as other reviews have noted). You might notice some of the more negative reviews complaining about the motor on some of the features. I agree that the motors are very touchy. My problem in particular was with the laser pointer, and in this case I think I've determined that the laser pointer motor doesn't do well with large jerking movements. Either the motor becomes damaged if there is a period of continued use under these conditions, or the motor doesn't necessarily reset to center automatically if you exit out of the program while using the laser, which if the pointer is too far off center this seems to then break either the motor or the motor's programming. This has resulted in the laser pointers on three of the cameras I've tried getting stuck uselessly pointed off into the plastic of the lower corner of the device. However it appears this problem can be avoided, I'm one month in and my current laser pointer still works. To get the most lifetime out of the laser pointer, I recommend:1) Avoid using the laser pointer auto mode. The auto mode is particularly jerky with its motions and may contribute to the motor wearing out quickly. I used auto mode on all of my previous cameras (which malfunctioned within a day or two) and I have not used auto mode on my current camera (which is still going a month later).2) Before you close the app, use the manual mode to recenter the laser pointer in the field of view.Similarly you probably want to baby the motor in the treat dispenser. My understanding after reading the manufacturer's FAQ on the product is that there's an intentional delay in the treat dispenser motor response after the treat function has been selected once. I have not tested this as much as the pointer, but it's possible that hitting the treat option too many times during that programmed delay may overwhelm the motor.Amazon's customer return service is excellent, and I was also able to speak with technical support from pawbo itself by going to their webpage. I have no complaints about either the shipping or the customer support. The product is light and small, and so it can potentially be knocked over or damaged. I would recommend either mounting it somewhere or putting it on a shelf, or if it's going to be in a location that the animals can reach, to get some sort of cage to put around it.I've included pictures of how I've currently arranged the camera, as well as one of my cats regularly playing with the laser pointer. I'm getting the teaser toy add on next. 4Excellent product and support team!! I LOVE THIS THING. My two kitties warmed up to it immediately and were very curious about it lol. We dropped a lot of treats at first which I think sparked more interest in the Power. If they are not in the room, I can call out to them using the two way talking and they will come prancing in knowing exactly where to go.My family and friends love it too. I passed my phone around and they all played with the laser and dropped treats for them. My husband and Mom easily logged in using the QR code. The QR code has to be scanned (obviously) so make sure to email it or text it to someone near them (ie yourself, their spouse, etc) so it can be scanned off of the second device. I like that you can turn the doorbell sounds on or off bc then I know if my mom or husband has logged in while I'm home alone. Don't want to be caught looking dumb lolThe reason I chose this product over others was all of the reviews mentioning the support team. Yes, my laser got off center two days after I received it, but their support team responded to me in one business day and said they had updated the app with a feature to recalibrate the laser. I did this and it works great now!! (Open up the pawbo app and start a live session. Hold down on the settings button in top right until the calibration directions appear.) This is a great product but more importantly the company cares about it and is always working to enhance it and make the customer happy. Win win! 5Great pet sitter! Works very well. I can see my dog and my cat through my phone, what is even better is that this thing has two way speaker, so I can hear them! The only thing might be needed to improve, is that the monitor can't turn, it is fixed to a certain angle, so the range is limited. Beside this, everything is great! 4the company was easy to work with 1. Our first pawbo the treat dispenser would not rotate/dispense treats straight out of the box. We were able to send it back2. the second pawbo worked for 24 hours, then the laser migrated and you could only get it to shine in one spot on the floor but you could the laser was in the case and you could see it move around the white plastic. Contacted the company and they sent us a third pawbo.3 the third again only worked for 24 hours and again the laser got stuck in the right lower corner.the company was easy to work with, but the product continuously breaks. we've sent our third pawbo in one month back for a final refund. 1I cannot say enough about Pawbo - it is amazing! I did a lot of research before purchasing ... I cannot say enough about Pawbo - it is amazing! I did a lot of research before purchasing this product and was nervous about getting it connected to my wifi, but I got the Pawbo connected with no problems in less than 5 minutes! My kitties and I love it. They come right up to the camera whenever they hear me log in to it when I am gone and wait for a treat or for me to turn on the laser! I love that it allows you to take pictures and I attached one to show the quality of the video! Customer Service is very receptive and helpful as well, you can tell that they really want to make their customers happy and have the best experience with their pets! 5Internet often doesn't work. Tips over a lot. I was excited to be able to view the secret life of my pets while away from home. I picked up the PawboLife based upon the reviews I saw. However, right away I was concerned. The box in which it ships is intended to be used as the base. The device itself is rather short and so the box is to make it stand taller so you can view more than a foot off the ground. But the box is very small, about 5 in. . I immediately knew this wasn't going to be very stable as it is now top-heavy with the PawboLife on top of an empty cardboard box. Sure enough, my dogs went to sniff the device (which had treats in it) and knocked it over. Every single day. For two weeks. Finally I resorted to keeping this in the clothes basket surrounded by objects to stop the dogs from knocking it over. This, of course, defeats the ability to deliver any treats. Any treats dispensed fall uselessly in the clothes basket. I could live with this and just use this device as a WebCam, but the app for it is incredibly slow. It takes forever to load on the newest model iPhone. And then the Internet connectivity is spotty. I can only attribute this to congestion of the PawboLife servers. No other device in my house is having any problems with Wi-Fi. Yet when I try to connect to PawboLife I regularly get a message about connectivity issues. And this is after a 602nd+ load time. I'm incredibly disappointed with this device and it's lack of functionality. 2Very happy customer I actually got this to see my kids while im away from home. I am a parent who works. I can't stay at home with my kids, as much as I would love to. I looked into nanny cams, surveillance cams, and security cams. Pawbo was reviewed as easiest set up, and no fees besides the initial purchase (unless you want to upgrade).I was ecstatic on how easy it was to set up, the clarity of the footage, easy to use main functions, and that it connects almost every time. You can't put a price on piece of mind. I'm very grateful to the inventor of this. There are some issues tho. I can't figure out how to view from a second phone. My voice comes out muffled over the mic to my kids, but most of the time I can hear the kids on my end and that is the important thing. There is no chance on "spying" or being inconspicuous because when I connect on and off from my phone a loud door bell ring sound comes thru the mic on their end. It does get delayed most of the time. As suggested in other reviews, I wouldn't use the "treat" function because your pet will try to knock down or break the device. If you use Pawbo from your phone for long periods of time, bring a charger with you because it might drain your phone battery. But, overall I'm extremely happy and do recommend this to everyone. On the nights I can't be home, I can see and hear my family and it makes me feel like I'm right there with them. 5Good, but needs some work on the microphone This is a great product if you want to just check in on your pet. I don't know why people have said that the camera quality is poor, but its certainly not. If it is ever grainy, it's your wifi connection. I also felt that the setup was ridiculously easy. It also has a feature that has certain sounds to try to get your pets attention which i thought was great, but it seemed geared more towards a cat. The whole product seems like its for a cat and not a dog. My dog did not respond to any of the sounds that would normally get his attention when he hears them on tv (e.g. cat's meow). My reason for the 3 stars is simple - the microphone barely worked. You can hear yourself on the other end of the camera talking and it worked once every 10 tries. I was completely disappointed in this feature because I bought this specifically for the ability to talk to my dog and give him a treat when I'm gone. For that to not work, the entire product just wasn't what I needed. 3Needs refinement It's ok but it's flawed. Here my pros and cons about the device:Pros: can deliver treats remotely most pet food pellets fit into each pie wedge can play laser tag manually or laser pointer can move autonomously can take camera shots remotelyCons: camera doesn't angle down towards floor so you have to put the unit in harm's way of pets jaws and paws to even see your pet. I made a contraption that I hung the unit on just so I could angle it down to the floor. Poor camera resolution I get lag over the internet on the Pawbo but my Nest camera doesnt and it's a few feet away in the same room. The treat tray is a circle with 9 wedges that will hold most pellets. I was able to put 3 pellets into each pie wedge. It would be nice if the unit had a hook mount on top to hang it out of harms way and then allow the camera to point down to see my pet. 3Amazing! My cats already figured it out! "When this thing makes noise, I get treats" so she always comes right over to it. Our other cat could care less tho. The video quality is ok but could be better. The wide angle lens is perfect for even large rooms. Overall the whole thing is amazing. 5
